Elgin Mead

Elgin Meadery specializes in small batch traditional (pure honey wine), melomel (fruit), metheglin (spiced) and barrel aged meads. With the exception of the occasional rare varietal, Elgin meads are crafted from local Texas honey. All meads are gluten free.

One of our most popular meads, Invictus Black is designed to taste similar to a semi sweet red wine with a little extra "zing." Dark vinous and slightly tart, this mead pairs well with red meat and wild game.

Crafted with Rio Red and Texas Ruby Red grapefruit, this mead is bold and juicy. We used cotton blossom honey to give it a robust honey layer. This mead is unfiltered to capture that classic and delicious grapefruit juice flavor. Enjoy it by itself or add a little sparkling water to make it a grapefruit mimosa.

Intricatus

​Intricatus is a semi-sweet mead made with guajillo honey harvested in central Texas. Aged in oak bourbon barrels, this mead opens with a vanilla bourbon profile with underlying but still assertive fruity notes which give way to hints of caramel and white oak.

Sakura

Sakura is a golden mead made with a rare cherry blossom honey. Each year we produce a limited batch for a different charity. In 2020, proceeds were donated to Meals on Wheels. This year 100% of the profits will be donated to the Elgin Community Cupboard. Thank you so much for your support!!!

Black Is Beautiful

Black is Beautiful was created to raise money for the @AustinJusticeCoalition. 100% of proceeds were donated. This sweet mead is a perfect blend of aronia berries, blueberries and Texas wildflower honey. Aronia berries are extremely high in antioxidants and have a distinctive and pleasant taste. Dark and jammy, this mead has a uniquely delicious flavor profile.
